How to Prevent People from Taking Advantage of You

Image
It is not easy being Christian.  One of the hardest challenges we will face as Christians is that we will meet many people that will try to take advantage of us due to our Christian faith.  As Christian what do we do?  Christ taught us to be meek as sheep.  How do we prevent people from taking advantage of us but still remain true to our faith? I believe that Jesus Christ KNEW we would run into this problem.  He knew that there would be MANY that would try to take advantage of us and, had he NOT left us with a way out, we would be UTTERLY devoured by wolves.  His teaching is quite clear and it bears mentionining it.  We must never forget what he said to prevent that from happening.  "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore WISE as serpents and HARMLESS as doves (Matthew 10:16, KJV). The people that know you are a Christina, will try to WEAPONIZE your faith against you! This has happened to me several times.  My own family has tried to take advant

Melania Trump at the Fourth of July Celebration

Image
Has anyone seen the latest photos on Melania at the 4th of July celebration? When President Trump announced that he would celebrate our military during Independence Day many people criticized him for his doing so. It was amazing to see how thousands, upon thousands of people showed up to celebrate. It was also very amazing to see all the festivities. But one of the most amazing photos had to be that of Melania. As the Blue Angels flew up in the heavens, Melania looked so beautiful as she gazed in wonder at the performances of the air force. That has to be one of the most beautiful pictures of any First Lady.  On top of her beauty and innocent child-like wonderment, she has an incredible sense of fashion not seen since Jackie Kennedy.  In this photo one can see her long white fashionable dress laced with some strips of color. Her makeup is also always impeccable.  This entire scene reminds me of how God praises the beauty of women.  Of all creation, woman is God's gre

Earthquake Preparedness

This week California got hit by two major earthquakes, plus hundreds of smaller ones.  The news showed how people were all running away from the buildings for fear of collapsing.  The hysteria involved people crying, very fearful of the worst.  As believers we need to understand that these things (disasters) will happen.  But the Bible prepares ahead with several warnings found in the bible.  And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. Luke 21:11 This is what we are to expect in the last days.  We should be ready spiritually.  To us this means that Jesus Christ is coming back for us.  However, what should you do while we wait for Jesus Christ's return?  The experts tell us that we can prepare for earthquakes in this fashion--- 1. Drop on the ground, cover yourself and hold on to something sturdy. 2. Try to protect your head. 3. If you smell gas, get out of the house! 4.  Once

Aretha Franklin: Gone but Not Forgotten

Image
By Atlantic Records(Life time: Published before 1978 without a copyright notice) - Original publication: Billboard MagazineImmediate source: page 7 , PD-US , Link Today marks the death of one Aretha Franklin.  She was 76 years old.  Born in 1942 Aretha was a singer that transcended different generations.  The first time I was exposed to her music was when she sang the National Anthem at Wrestlemania 3. I was also exposed to her music when she sang "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)"  with George Michael.  They made a great duet.  It is so sad to see her go. She had a great voice. President Trump today said her voice was "God given".  I cannot agree more. I heard today while watching Fox News that she also sang at Dr. Martin Luther King's funeral.  She was a true Civil Rights leader.  And who can forget her song, "Respect"?  It was a song for the times when African-Americans experienced discrimination at a great degree. But one other thing that

The Dismal (or Lack of) Medical Services in the Philippines

Image
Filipino citizens face a horrifying life and death struggle at the hands of their hospital system. Any time a Filipino faces a medical emergency going to the hospital does not mean that they will get the medical attention to save their lives. Rodrigo Duterte takes his oath as he is sworn in as the 16th President of the Philippines, 30 June 2016 / Public Domain This past month I came across a true story of how a daughter had to leave the comfort of the USA to go to her ailing father in the Philippines.  Her 78 year old father was admitted into the hospital of General Santos for multiple ailments.  Suffice to say he lost consciousness due to complications of diabetes and a month long struggled ensued to save his life. In the United States and other First World Countries, going to the hospital is not hard.  In the United States, by law if you have a medical emergency they have to admit you.  Not so in the Philippines.  Before her father got admitted into the hospital they h

Melania Trump: Reciting the Lord's Prayer

Image
Creative Commons   Attribution 2.0 Generic  license. How beautiful it was to hear the Lord's Prayer recited by arguably the most powerful woman in the world.  How beautiful it was.  On Friday Saturday 18, Melania did just that.  I was very surprised and it was refreshing.  What the Trumps have been doing is refreshing. Here are two people, practically secular in every way and they are going out on a limb to utter Jesus Christ.  To make public statements about about God when if fact God was not in anyone's lips for the past eight years. Going back to Melania, the liberals are attacking her for her prayer.  They are so petty they even are critical of her accent.  But for me that is what made it so beautiful.  Her accent made that prayer even so much more beautiful.  I could sense that her voice was slightly cracking.  She sounded nervous to deliver such as a very powerful prayer.  But I sensed that God was becoming very pleased.  And then when she finally finished, he lo

Chicago's Violent Reaction to Trump Rally

Image
What a rowdy and misguided bunch! The reaction Donald Trump experienced in Chicago did not surprised me.  I totally expected it. People are protesting Trump because they are reacting to their emotions, rather than their heads. When I woke up to go to work, I saw very early from the newscast how some protesters where already there at 6:30 am.  And I knew some of them!! A city of Chicago protest has many dark forces working and influencing it.  I know because when I was younger I participated in many of them.  I worked protests to bring justice to animal abuse, immigrant rights, police brutality, and the environment.  For about five years I got involved in many of them here in Chicago.  I did so because I had a deep conviction for what was right and just.  I felt I was doing the right thing.  That is why I always supported protests, as long as they were non-violent. However, God was opening my eyes to the reality of a protest.  While participating in a protest in Wicker Park
