Five Falsehoods About Christianity

Myth#1: The Bible is corrupt or has been changed by the hands of man.

Fact:

The existence of the Dead Sea Scrolls prove that the Bible has not been changed, and the modern Bible, including the New Testament is more accurate than any other holy book.

Myth#2: Constantine and the Council of Nicea changed the Bible.

Fact:

Being that he was Emperor at the time Constantine could have very easily written the Bible to pay homage to him. But no evidence exists in the Bible that is partial to Constantine, his Emperorship or his Bishops. The Bible is impartial to heads of state or governments.

Myth#3: The Bible tolerates immoral behavior because the U.S. allows sexual exploitation, use of drugs, and homosexuality.

Fact:

The Bible teaches that every individual is responsible for his lifestyle. The U.S. is not a theocracy, and the Church cannot dictate or control social norms. Jesus did not go condemning sinners. He forgave them in the hopes that his grace would encourage them to reform themselves through love and not corporal punishment.

Myth#4: Christians promote death and violence throughout the world. Prime example is President George W. Bush who was a Christian and started the Iraq War.

Fact:

Western governments like the U.S. are political, not religious. The church and government are separate. The church cannot dictate to the government how to govern, and the government does not control the Church how to worship. George Bush is an oil tycoon, alcoholic, turned politician who used Christianity to fool people and profit from it.

Myth#5: Christians are not persecuted for their faith anymore.

Fact:

Christians in the tens of thousands across the world are being tortured, imprisoned, and killed for trying to practice their faith. Among some countries were Christians have no freedom whatsoever to preach or practice their faith are North Korea, Indonesia, China, Arabia, Israel, Cuba and Iran, just to name a few countries. The figures of the red map above are shocking to say the least.

Invasion of Deadly Religions

The Christian World has narrowly missed a big threat. On Sunday, in Geneva, the United Nations opened its World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance. Eight Western countries are boycotting this gathering which will last until April 24, because they refuse to adopt a United Nations declaration that will outlaw free speech. The rest of the world is unhappy that the Neatherlands, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Italy, Israel and the United States are boycotting this meeting because they will not be there to adopt a declaration that "will criticize Israel and an attempt by Muslim governments to ban all criticism of Islam, Sharia law, the prophet Muhammad and other tenets of their faith."

The Bible is not against free speech. Jesus Christ is not against free speech. Free speech in the United States is a Christian liberty and right. If the eight countries would not have stood up against this conference, the world would have drastically changed in an instant. In his day Jesus Christ was criticized behemontedly. Luke 7:34 narrates: "The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Jesus was also called a blasphemor, demon-possessed, crazy and an illigitimate son. Yet, Jesus never made any decree that a person should be punished or imprisoned for being openly criticized. Jesus Christ was not afraid to be criticized because He knew he was the only Truth, the Way and the Light. Jesus was not insecure about his teachings because the Bible says that he was the Prince of Peace and the Son of the Living God. So what if he was criticized?

According to President Barack Obama's adminstration, it could not endorse a statement that single-out "incitement" of religious hatred. State Department spokesman Robert Wood said that such declarations "run counter to the U.S. commitment to unfettered free speech." If the United States ever adopts the Durban Declaration, it will mean the end of religious freedom and free speech across the world. There will be nothing to stop communists or theocracies from imposing their radical views and enslave all of humanity.

For the history buffs, the last time this conference was held was in Durban, South Africa from August 31 to September 7, 2001. President George Bush had recently won election. The United States also opposed this declaration and four days later terrorists attacked America on September 11, 2001. Let us hope and pray that the true xenophobes and intolerants of religious freedom and speech will never gain the upperhand against the Kingdom of God.

The Real Jesus

Last week in Pakistan, a Muslim teenage girl was whipped publicly for violating Shariah Law. About a month ago, in upstate New York, the President of Bridges Television decapitated the head of his lovely wife, both typical acts which happen in many countries, but we in America hear about them sporadically. Violent acts such as these in American are not considered normal because every time we do hear about them we become horrified. We become horrified because our Sunday schools never taught us to behave like this towards our fellow human beings---no matter what kind of transgressions they may have done to us.

Jesus Christ taught us to love one another, even your enemies. To Jesus Christ, just having mere hate towards someone is like killing them. Jesus Christ did not teach us to be cold and callous, and if anyone who is, it is only because Jesus’ true love does not dwell inside of them. The Messiah taught in Luke 6:27-29 “But to those who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn the other also.”

The New Testament (Injeel) in Arabic

I recently got my free New Testament copy in Arabic from the Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry. I am still waiting for the other book I ordered from the Sharif Foundation to be sent. I am very excited to have gotten this New Testament because I will give it to a Muslim co-worker. My Muslim co-worker sometimes rides with me after work. I know that once a person has been indoctrinated since birth, it is very hard to accept any other belief system. But the Bible says that with God all things are possible. This bible is translated from the King James Version. Showcasing a green cover, the text reads from right to left and it includes an English translation.

Incidentally, the Arabic Bible Outreach Ministry only asks that a person donate five dollars to help with the shipping costs, but there is no obligation to donate any money to them. However, I think that I will give a donation to cover the costs for at least five New Testaments. There is a great thirst for the Word of God through Jesus Christ in the Arab world. What a great way for us to get involved in this great cause!
